There is nothing AT ALL wrong with “touching up” any photo. Ancil Adams “touched up” all of his photos in the darkroom. Today’s methods are just different. Good photographs are made-they don’t just happen. A huge part of the “art” of photography is doing whatever is needed to make the photograph work. Now, if you’re just taking about taking snapshots, that’s a different story, but these photos are much more than snapshots.

Just want to point out that a good photo is also about lighting and composition. A poorly composed photo under bad lighting will remain a bad photo, no matter how much you Photoshop it.

There will always be those who dismiss iPhoneography… good thing for those of us who are making a name and even some money out of it. But you know what? I'd LOVE to see what photos YOU take before you claim the right to criticize the work of others. Maybe it's just that with an iPhone or without one, with apps or not, or even with Photoshop you can't take a single good photo.

Hi Carl,

This post was to reflect that you can capture a good photo with any camera. You don't need fancy equipment or an expensive dSLR. And yes, agree that probably better photos have been taken with a cheap, fun, disposable camera.

Hilarious the losers who think these are done in Photoshop. It always amazes me how loud ignorant people are while the rest just continue in ahead of their curve. iPhoneography is well-known. The apps are well-known. Twitter, Tumblr and Posterous are FULL of iPhone blogs. These idiots analyzing the pictures for back-lighting and vignettes and agreeing with each other. Fools.
